Who I am?

Leading a healthy and fulfilled life, music, art and movement play important roles in my life. The beauty and potential of creative expression in different fields of art have always fascinated me. I was lucky to start playing instruments, dancing and painting at an early age. Following up on this passion for creativity, I later studied graphic design and undertook intensive training in several dance techniques such as classical ballet, contemporary, modern and new dance, Body Mind Centering, contact improvisation, yoga and meditation as well as flow arts techniques like hula hoop, poi, fans and staff spinning. I feel blessed that today I can live my life as an artist (I perform fire, light and daytime shows that combine flow arts and dancing) and teacher in my chosen fields. I especially like passing on the positive effects of this knowledge and skills to others and hope to create more joy and abundance in doing so.

Experiences

Keiko Agnes Schmitt (*1976) is a freelance dancer, artist, educator and designer living in Frankfurt am Main/Germany. Under the artist name Tanzlicht K (tanzlicht-k.info), she has been developing and performing flow arts and dance-based fire and light shows with varied props as well as contemporary dance performances for a wide variety of event formats since 2007. She teaches children, young people (since 2012) and adults (since around 2005) in dance, circus and flow arts. She has worked with and for many institutions, clubs, schools, refugee shelters, kindergardens and different associations – mainly in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main-area. Her focus in her pedagogical activities is to promote self-efficacy, strengthening and joy of movement and physical experience among her students. She works inclusively, context-sensitively and attentively to the respective abilities and characteristics of her students. She received a degree in New Dance in 2011 after a three-years-intensive education at Dance Vision Institute in Freiburg. In 2020 and 2021 she received a scholarship from the Hessian Cultural Foundation. In 2020 she co-founded Reclaiming Dance (reclaiming-dance.de), a Mixed Abled Dance company that aims to promote inclusive dance events, as trainings, workshops and performances, in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main-area.
