Who I am?

The small towns and suburbs of southeastern Pennsylvania is where I was born and raised.

After studying history and literature in university, I continued on to become a professor but stopped short when I realized that learning and teaching can happen in all different contexts. Driven by learning, I pursued employment that brought me income and new experiences. Eventually, I built a successful UX recruitment business in NYC, then gave that up to be closer to my wife's family in France.

We have remained in France since January 2020, and I have enjoyed helping others navigate change in their life, through my coaching practice, community building, and writing.

More than anything else, being a committed father to two daughters has felt to me like the greatest creative act of all.

I love writing (essays, poems, and short stories) because it invites deeper conversation with the people around me and it helps me express what feels to me like the precious and fascinating complexity that is hidden in our world.

Experiences

From a very early age, I have used writing to make sense of the world - writing stories, poetry, and personal essays for the simple pleasure and in order to share with others that joy.

Even so, I have struggled to identify as a "writer" because I haven't earned much money from it. Over time, though, I have learned to "publish" (to share my writing with a wider public) what feels meaningful and what I enjoy putting together. Even without serious credentials, I have discovered that when I share my writing, I help readers find words to express their own feelings and thoughts, or to learn about another point of view. That is what motivates me to continue.
