Who I am?

Barbara | ArcoIris Embroidery

I’m Barbara, the artist behind ArcoIris Embroidery. I host handmade embroidery workshops where creativity meets activism. My focus is on repurposing old clothes and fabrics, transforming them into unique pieces that thread resistance against fast fashion. In a world dominated by mass production, I believe that each stitch is an act of defiance, a way to reclaim individuality and purpose.

Through my work, I explore themes of diversity, inclusion, feminism, and body positivity, using embroidery as a powerful tool to craft voices for change. My workshops encourage participants to express themselves, stitch by stitch, as they breathe new life into upcycled materials. Together, we create art that not only stands against waste but also champions self-expression and community transformation.

Experiences

I have been mastering my embroidery skills for the past 7 years, a journey that began during a time of political tension and division in Brazil. Embroidery became my way of expressing my political views and channeling my energy into something positive. Now living in Berlin, I host workshops that not only encourage participants to explore their creativity but also inspire them to express their own beliefs while repurposing old clothes.

My workshops are immersive, full of care, and brimming with good vibes. With 10 years experience as a kindergarten teacher, I deeply believe in the power of education and the importance of encouraging others to discover something new, whether it's learning embroidery or finding a creative outlet for self-expression.
